Martha Temido says that someone who knows the healthcare sector “does not buy from third parties.”

The head of the PS list for the European elections this Sunday denied the claim that the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Health awarded contracts to private organizations while she was minister, because those who know the sector well “don’t buy from third parties.”

“The Ministry of Health, through the General Secretariat, which is the procurement body, has not entered into contracts with private consultants. Now that we are talking about the health universe that was mentioned, we will have to question the health of the vast universe,” said Marta Temido.

The PSD/CDS-PP government admitted on Saturday that it had hired a private consultant to “organize and structure” the work of the “task force” responsible for the Health Emergency Plan, stressing that the company was working with the “World Health Ministry.” health care” in recent years.”

While visiting the Resende cherry festival in the northern district of Viseu, the MEP candidate criticized those who define political strategies and hand them over to the private sector.

“Those who know well do not buy from third parties, those who do not know what to do usually buy externally. These are options,” he noted.

Martha Temido explained to reporters that perhaps because she has “a lot of experience in the healthcare sector,” she always understood that this “wasn’t the best option.”

“I know our country well, including through my work as a hospital administrator, I worked here, a few kilometers from here, at the Peso da Regua hospital,” she added.

PS Secretary-General Pedro Nuno Santos asked the government on Saturday whether any private consulting company was involved in the preparation of the health emergency plan, how it was hired and what information the National Health Directorate provided. service (SNS) had access.

According to the Socialist leader, “the private consulting company was apparently involved in consultation meetings with various organizations, private and public,” and it is unknown “to what extent it was also involved in the development of the health emergency plan.”

This Sunday, Prime Minister Luis Montenegro said that the question raised by the Secretary General of the PS about the possible use of a private consultant in the health strategic plan “has no head and shoulders.”

“This charge has no head and shoulders, it has no head and shoulders. I’m not going to talk about it now, but this accusation has no head and shoulders,” said Luis Montenegro.

In a memo sent to Lusa, the Office of the Minister of Health explained that “a private consultant, IQVIA Solutions, was hired to organize and structure the input/work of the ‘task force’ and is part of a pool of consultants who have worked with the MOH universe in recent years.”
