KP — Comboios de Portugal warned today that disruptions in circulation are expected, especially until Saturday, due to a strike called by several unions, but for which a minimum volume of services has been defined.
“Due to the strikes called by the SMAQ trade union between June 27 and July 14, 2024, as well as ASCEF, ASSIFECO, FENTCOP, SINAFE, SINDEFER, SINFA, SINFB, SIOFA, SNAQ, SNTSF and STF, between 00:00 and 24 :00 On June 28, 2024, circulatory disturbances are expected with a particular impact on June 28, as well as the days before and after,” CP said in a note published on its portal.
Likewise, CP notes that the strike could also affect the movement of the historic Douro train.
Customers holding tickets for travel on Alfa Pendular, intercity, international and interregional trains can request a full refund or exchange.
Refunds can be made on CP digital platforms no later than 15 minutes before the train departs from the customer’s base station, or at ticket offices.
“After this period and within 10 days of the end of the strike, a refund can be requested by completing the online ‘refund for delay or deletion’ form and submitting a scan of the original ticket,” he added.
According to a ruling published on Thursday, the Court of Arbitration decided to set a minimum service level of around 25% for the strike, which will take place at CP – Comboios de Portugal and which has the support of several trade unions.
According to a document signed by more than 10 trade union organizations, KP workers will go on strike on Friday to demand better careers.

The court’s decision on this and another strike called between June 27 and July 14 includes, in addition to the traditional minimum services for relief trains and the transport of dangerous and perishable goods, a list of trains that must be provided with security.

“The human and material resources necessary to provide the minimum established services, including, but not limited to, associated marches and their opening, closing, staging and other necessary operations will be provided,” the court ruled.
The strike will be joined by the Union of Middle-Level Railway Managers (ASCEF), the Independent Union of Commercial Railway Workers (ASSIFECO), the National Union of Transport, Communications and Public Works (FENTCOP), the National Union of Railway Workers of Traffic and Related Industries (SINAFE), the National Democratic Union of Railway Workers (Sindefer) and the Independent Union of Railway, Infrastructure and Related Industries Workers (SINFA).
National Independent Union of Railway Workers (SINFB), Independent Union of Railway Operators and Allied Trades (SIOFA), National Union of Technical Personnel (SNAQ), Federation of Trade Unions of Transport and Communications (Fectrans), Union of Railway Transport (STF). ), the National Union of Portuguese Railway Engineers (SMAQ) and the National Union of Railway Workers (SNTSF) will also join.
