Prime Minister Luis Montenegro inaugurated on Sunday the second stage of the Estrada Nacional (EN) 14 bypass, part of a project that has been successively delayed or modified over the past three decades. “This work, like all the stages of reclassification of the variants in accordance with EN14, has a long way to go,” said the head of the Trofa executive body. The new road connection between Via Diagonal in Maia and the Rodoferroviária interface in Trofa, an investment of 32 million euros included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan, has prompted Montenegro to reaffirm that “it is worth continuing to believe in Portugal” because “With more and better communication routes” and “greater coordination between transport” it is possible to “attract investment and create an even greater scale for the Portuguese economy”. Alongside the already announced construction of a new Lisbon airport, the Prime Minister noted the “very large untapped potential” of the Francisco Sá Carneiro airport in Porto.
