The European Commission launched a public consultation on Wednesday on its proposed guidelines to strengthen online protection for minors, with submissions from interested parties open until 30 September.
The Brussels Guidelines will set out how online platforms should ensure a high level of privacy and security protection for minors online, as required by digital services legislation.
According to the statement, the community leader wants, in particular, feedback on the scope and approach proposed for the guidelines, as well as best practices and recommendations for reducing the risks that minors may face online.
The Committee invites all interested parties to participate in the call for contributions, namely by submitting scientific reports and supporting studies by 30 September.
Brussels will use stakeholder input to develop the guidelines and will consult on the draft guidelines, which are expected to be adopted by summer 2025.
