The repositioning platform Scut A23 and A25 accused the government this Friday of failing to fulfill the public commitments it made to take a stance on domestic tolls and scheduling a new meeting.
“The Minister of Territorial Unity and the Minister of Infrastructure told the media that the government will clarify once and for all its position regarding tolls within the country and on the A22 motorway, before the next meeting with those responsible for the SCUT A23 and A25 Repositioning Platform, scheduled for February 15, adding, Minister of Territorial Unity that tolls in the hinterland are in fact contextual costs,” the platform said in a statement.
In the document, they recalled that “there was a single meeting held online on January 27, and after the meeting, the Platform sent a paper for reflection on the implementation of the process to replace SCUT with A23, A24 and A25, when the government had to schedule a new meeting within 48 hours which didn’t happen.”
The platform also stressed that “she was not summoned/invited to any meeting on February 15” and added that on that day “contrary to the promise, the Government did not voice any position on this issue.”
In this sense, “because the government has not fulfilled these public obligations”, the platform emphasized that “the participation in the Beira Interior Embassy, which will be held on February 25 in Lisbon.
The platform for repositioning Scut on the A23 and A25 motorways brings together seven organizations from the districts of Castelo Branco and Guarda – the Business Association of Beira Baixa, the Union of Trade Unions of Castelo Branco, the Commission of Users Against Tolls on the A23 Motorways, the Movement of Entrepreneurs for Subsistence in Internal Affairs, Guarda Region Business Association, A25 Users Commission and Guarda Union of Unions.
