The man was forced to pay his ex-wife 240 thousand euros for the care of the house and daughters

A lower court in Malaga, Spain, ruled that a man must pay his ex-wife 204,000 euros “in compensation for unpaid housework done at home” during their 25 years of marriage.

The judge’s sentence also includes a compensatory pension of 500 euros a month for the next two years for the wife, aged 48, and two other pensions of 400 and 600 euros for two daughters, aged 14 and 20. In addition, it obliges both parties to pay half of the emergency expenses incurred by young women, including dental consultations, ophthalmology, or even school support, among other things. According to El País, the lawsuit was filed in December 2020, months after the couple broke up.

The wedding took place in 1995, when the couple was in their twenties. In July of the same year, they signed a statement on the division of property. Since then, they have developed professional careers that include opening several gyms, flooring companies, playgrounds, and selling bodybuilding equipment, among others. As a result of their work, they were able to acquire a 70-hectare olive farm that produces olive oil and which, according to the decision, generates a monthly income of “between three thousand and four thousand euros”. “When we filed a lawsuit, the land was being sold for four million euros,” the woman’s lawyer said. a countrywhich notes that the ex-husband’s assets include luxury cars, real estate, life insurance, and tractors.

While the man grew professionally, the woman stayed at home to take care of her daughters. The first was born in 2003 and the second in 2009.”[A mulher] He spent all his time raising his family. For what [o homem] could have a business project, she stayed with the girls and never needed anyone’s help, ”the lawyer emphasizes. “It was her job, exclusively,” she insisted, emphasizing that the family moved several times to different municipalities of Malaga, to meet the needs of a man. “She was his shadow, she worked behind him so that he could grow professionally and become someone,” adds the legal representative, who claims that the father did not want his eldest daughter to graduate and that this is why, since the age of 16, a girl works to pay school fees.
