The PSD has asked the Minister of Finance to “urgently” provide a document with an update on the data contained in the General Government Account (GCA) for 2021 so that Parliament can have a consolidated and updated version.
In a request addressed to the Office of Minister Fernando Medina, the PSD deputies indicate that between the presentation of the CGE to the Assembly of the Republic and its approval, “several processes take place in which the information contained in it is successively updated.” which renders the approved document “obsolete in relation to the reality it is intended to portray”.
For the PSD, the fact that the parliament does not have a consolidated and updated document “complicates the process of checking MPs and discussing the AEG in plenary”, a situation that she considers “serious”.
To overcome this, MPs are asking the Minister of Finance to “urgently provide a document” containing updated public finance data contained in the 2021 CGE, “which has been amended to include new information not available at the time the report was finalized. The account has already been set up.”
Among the examples of obsolescence, MPs point to the case of the total balance (in public records), which in the CGE 2021 is -8,643.2 million euros, which is 223.7 million euros below the value indicated in the second notice of the Excessive Deficit Procedure ( EDP).
The PSD recalls that the General State Account is submitted to the Assembly of the Republic by May 15 of the year following the year to which it relates, and the Accounts Chamber, by September 30, gives an opinion on it and approves what is happening. one year after its submission and during the second year following the year to which it relates.
