Prosecutors have charged seven Air Force personnel and the wife of one with embezzlement and misuse of services.
The crimes were committed at Maceda Maneuver Airfield No. 1 in Ovar between 2018 and 2021. The state suffered damage in the amount of more than 237 thousand euros. Crimes of misappropriation, embezzlement, abuse of power, denial of justice and evasion of justice are at stake.
The military wife is responsible for the usurpation of functions. The prosecution says that this defendant came to give orders and instructions to the military.
One of the soldiers was the main beneficiary of the crimes. He bought or shipped goods to his private residence, paid household expenses, and used the services of a gardener and laundry. Their personal vehicles were also serviced at the airfield workshops. On holidays, he received food for his family or for third parties, and other people used the car assigned to him.
The second soldier benefited the most as he used Messe’s human resources for personal gain and used the vehicle allocated to him for recreation. He also received wages incorrectly. The remaining five elements of the Air Force received food.
The State Department is demanding that the defendants pay damages to the state. There are officers among the accused soldiers.
