Russia is threatening to rip off a deal allowing Ukrainian grain exports if the West continues to block Russian grain and fertilizer exports.
The warning was left by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Turkey, where he met with his Turkish counterpart. Mevlut Cavusoglu.
“If there is no progress in removing barriers to the export of Russian fertilizers and grains, we will reconsider whether this agreement is necessary,” Lavrov said.
The obstacles cited by the head of the Kremlin diplomacy include, in particular, difficulties in obtaining insurance for the transportation of products.
The Turkish Foreign Minister indicated that he agreed with Moscow’s request to remove obstacles to the export of Russian fertilizers and grains.
The agreement on the export of Ukrainian cereals was extended about three weeks ago. The initial agreement was signed in July last year, mediated by Turkey and the UN.
