President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa received this Thursday at an audience at the Belen Palace the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, who has been on a visit to Portugal since Tuesday.
Olena Zelenska arrived at Belen Palace at 20:41, which this Thursday had an enhanced security device compared to the usual one.
Having fixed smiles and some nervousness of photojournalists and image reporters, Marcelo Rebelo de Souza sent the first lady of Ukraine to sign the book of honor, which was not provided for by the protocol.
Meanwhile, the book of honor arrived in the hall, Olena Zelenska signed it and, accompanied by the President of the Portuguese Republic, went to the hall where the audience will be held.
The First Lady of Ukraine arrived in Lisbon on Tuesday and took part in the opening of the web summit, which takes place at the Altice Arena and Feira Internacional de Lisboa until Friday.
At the start of Tuesday’s tech summit in front of a packed pavilion, Zelenskaya accused Vladimir Putin’s Russian regime of using technology “in the service of terror.”
“Russia is putting technology at the service of terror, and what we are seeing today is the result of the use of these technologies,” he said at the end of the web summit opening ceremony, and left participants with photographs of the devastation caused by the missile in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.
The wife of the Ukrainian president added that Russian technologists who used to work in the private sector are now cooperating in the war against Ukraine that began on February 24, and asked for help from entrepreneurs in solving this problem.
