Timor’s government clarified this Wednesday that there would be no obstruction to traffic on the country’s roads on Thursday due to a solar eclipse, explaining that police officers would only be on site if there were any problems.
“I spoke with the PNTL command [Polícia Nacional de Timor-Leste] and there will be no checkpoints tomorrow afternoon. Agents will be on site in case there is any problem, but there will be no obstruction to traffic. I think there has been some sort of misunderstanding, Deputy Interior Minister Antonio Armindo told Lusa.
Thus, Armindo clarified the information announced by the PNTL itself on Tuesday about the ban on national roads due to the eclipse, with the government confirming this Wednesday that it had not issued any instructions in this regard.
