The Elvas Judicial Court this Wednesday ordered the pre-trial detention of a 49-year-old man suspected of having committed domestic violence against his mother in the city of Elvas, Portalegre district, a PSP source said.
The same source told the Lusa news agency that the suspect was present this Wednesday at the first judicial interrogation in the Elvas court, which ruled on the most serious measure of coercion.
The man was taken to Elvas prison, where he will wait for the development of the process, a police source said.
A statement from the Portalegre PSP district office on Tuesday said the man was arrested on Monday, “after 5:00 p.m.,” in a house that the victim, a 70-year-old man, shared with the aggressor.
“The PSP in Elvas, having received a telephone warning that an attack on an elderly person in a very vulnerable situation was taking place, rushed to the scene, confirming that this person was in fact just a victim of abuse. not only physical, but also psychological on the part of your child, ”the document says.
The police detained the man and, since there were several bruises and abrasions on the body of the victim, he was taken to the Elvas polyclinic for inpatient treatment.
