U.S. justice this Wednesday charged a former Apple employee with stealing autonomous vehicle technology developed by a technology group to sell to a Chinese company.
The Justice Department announced that Wang Weibao, 35, was charged with theft and attempted theft of trade secrets as part of a scheme to access and usurp Apple technology used in autonomous vehicle systems.
According to the lawsuit, Wang worked as a computer engineer for a California company from 2016 to 2018. During that time, he had access to databases only available to the 2,700 employees of the company, which employs more than 130,000 people.
