União de Leiria became Ligue 3 football champions this Saturday by beating Belenenses 1-0 in the play-off final for promotion to League II, held at the Estadio Nacional in Oeiras.
In the final of the second edition of Ligue 3, Valdir’s lone goal in the 11th minute brought the victory to the Leiriens, who thus replaced Torrense, the winner of last year, in the crown.
União de Leiria guaranteed a return to the professional leagues at the end of April, 11 after being relegated from the I league to the regional championships due to wage irregularities, and a few days later they were also joined by the historic Belenenses in the rise to the II Liga.
This is the third meeting between the two teams this season. The first game ended with the triumph of the “blue Restelo” with a score of 4:2. The second match was won by the Leiriens with a score of 2:1.
At this meeting, União de Leiria will display the symbol on the front of the equipment CMTV.
In 2022, Torrinse became the champion in penalties, drawing with UD Oliveirense in the 120th minute of the meeting.
