A downpour of penalties hit Taremi in a win over Famalicao

Taremi’s “poker” (three goals from the penalty spot) allowed Porto to win over Famalicao (4-2) and prevented Benfica from becoming champions on the couch this Saturday. Additional pressure on the Eagles, who will have to win today’s derby against Sporting in Alvalada to celebrate their 38th title.

The game promised to be lively after the balance shown by the two teams in the Portuguese Cup (the Dragons won 3-2 after extra time). However, Porto scored two goals in the first 10 minutes. He opened the scoring from a penalty kick (4 minutes) after Ivo Rodríguez tripped Otavio. Taremi was called to the realization and weakly shot into the goalkeeper’s figure. However, the judge ordered a repeat of Riczeli’s invasion of the area. On the second, the Iranian did not forgive and opened the scoring.

A goal that gave confidence to Taremi, who ended up scoring twice in the 10th minute after a good individual move in which he knocked goalkeeper Luis Junior out of the way before putting the ball into the net.

Whoever thought that the result was achieved was mistaken. The Famalicense were full of pride and went to Porto. Ivan Jaime cut (34′) with a header from Ivo Rodriguez.

The game turned into a stop and go game and after Grujic lost a goal from a good position, it was Pepe’s turn to hit Otavio Ataide in the head in the penalty area. Colombatto did not forgive and the penalty restored equality in the match.

In the second half, the Dragons scored two more goals with a penalty kick scored by Taremi to end the poker (four goals). These two fouls were committed by Zaid Yussuf (hand in the box) and Otavio Ataide, who stepped on Evanilson. Tough triumph with penalty rain.

TAREMI ‘POKER’
Taremi scored four goals, three of them from the penalty spot, and remained in the list of top scorers in La Liga (21). But his second goal was in a great category, throwing the goalkeeper off the track.

FAMILY MISTAKE
A team is unlikely to win the match if they take three penalties. And the truth is, they could all have been avoided. Despite this, Famalican showed pride.

GOOD ON FINES
The referee did the right thing by awarding four penalties (three for the Dragons and one for Famalicao). Strictly repeating the first, that Taremi failed. Good help from VAR for the hand of Otavio Ataide in the area.

“It does not depend on us, but we must believe”
“This result is important in a game that was not easy. In a situation that we are not used to, the title does not depend on us, but we must continue to believe in the possibilities,” said Sergio Conceição. After being sent off in the last game between the two teams for the Portuguese Cup this Saturday, the Porto coach greeted the opposing players and the refereeing team without incident.
