Qatar is out of the 2022 World Cup after the Netherlands drew against Ecuador, ending hopes of the host country continuing to compete in the tournament.
This is the first time that the country that organized the competition does not participate in it only in the second round. The Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Ecuador was enough to send the Qataris to the sofa as soon as they got home.
Last Sunday, the host team lost 2-0 to Ecuador, becoming the first host team to lose the first game.
Qatar will still play the Netherlands, but even if they win the game, they will only have three points, while the Netherlands and Ecuador have already reached four and are at the top of Group A.
Only first and second place in each group can guarantee a place in the next round of Mundial2022, Round 16.
