Spanish police arrested three young men on Tuesday for uttering racist slurs against Real Madrid’s Brazilian Vinicius Junior.
The insults took place during the meeting between Valencia and Real Madrid on Sunday, at the Mestalla Stadium, as part of the 35th round of the Spanish Football League. The moment led to the interruption of the meeting. The Brazilian was teased for most of the game and ended up being eliminated due to physical confrontations with other players.
The match ended in a 1-0 loss to Real Madrid, but the game remained in the background. The case had a huge resonance not only in the world of football. Lula da Silva denounced the racist acts, while Vinicius shared on social media a compilation of various moments he was insulted in Spanish stadiums.
Four people were arrested this morning for hanging a Vinicius doll on a bridge in Madrid.
