The Competitions Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) imposed a partial closure of stands at the Mestalla Stadium on Tuesday for five games after insulting Brazilian Vinicius Junior.
The Real Madrid striker accused Valencia fans of racist slurs during the match of the 35th round of the Spanish League, even colliding with Valencia fans during the match.
The RFEF body decided to close the Kempes stand, where most of the insults came from, including the one mentioned in the referee’s report, which said that in the 73rd minute, a fan called Vinicius “an ape”.
The competition committee also considered that, given the evidence presented, the insults began outside the stadium, continued inside the stadium upon arrival, with the organization emphasizing that, among other things, there were “common screams on the benches of the ‘calling Brazilian monkey'” towards the end of the match, among other things. .
The RFEF committee considers that “the unbearable racist nature of some of the chants that were sung on and off the field by some fans has been definitively proven.”
“The Committee considers it proven that, despite the efforts made by the club, it did not quickly implement all the necessary measures to eradicate such behavior,” the statement said.
The insults inflicted on Vinicius were condemned by various circles, including the Brazilian government itself.
