IMF Director General Kristalina Georgieva stressed this Friday the need for the US to “reach agreement” on the debt ceiling “as soon as possible” and urged the parties to approach the issue “differently.”
At a press conference to announce the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) findings on the US economy under Article IV, Kristalina Georgieva said she shared the concern of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, whom she met on Friday about progress in the talks.
The IMF slightly raised its growth forecast for the US economy, now pointing to 1.7% versus 1.6% expected in April.
