Footballer Daniel Braganza, who has been out of action for almost a year due to injury, has extended his contract with Sporting until 2027 with a €60 million clause, Léonin have announced today.
“After a break, I thank Sporting for their trust. I am very proud to be able to renew my heart club again. It has not been an easy year for me and the confidence they have in me is another motivation to meet next year,” the midfielder said in a statement posted on Alvalade’s official website.
Daniel Braganza, 24 (now turned), has been with Sporting since the 2007/08 season and has joined the first team since 2020/21 after a loan spell at Farença and Estoril Praia. However, he missed the entire current season due to a serious injury to his right knee.
Now the player of the Portuguese national team under 18, under 20 and under 21 has recovered and is already training comprehensively under the guidance of Ruben Amorim.
“I’ve been here for many years and responsibility is part of a club of this size. It’s already part of my DNA,” he said.
Of the injury, Daniel Braganza said “it was a shock” when he found out he was out of action for almost a year, but he couldn’t be happier to be back in action: “It was hard, but it’s over. Now I have to take advantage of this, given that I already feel good and work together to enjoy everything football has to offer and be happy.”
The footballer, Sporting CP’s senior, junior and youth national champion, also commented on how the Alvalade badge handled the entire recovery process.
“I received a lot of attention and care. Thanks to Sporting, which did not speed up the recovery, which is important. These are serious and long-term injuries and the player must be well in order to return to practice and play. didn’t force my recovery, he listened to me and understood when I was ready. It was very important even on a psychological level,” he said.
The midfielder assured that he will enter next season “cleanly, without fears and insecurities” and that he will “do everything possible to have the best season on an individual and collective level.”
