Benfica players invaded Roger Schmidt’s press conference this Saturday after winning Benfica’s 38th football championship in Luz.
At some point, the Eagles coach’s speech was interrupted by the players, who sang songs for the holiday and gave the coach a shower.
At a press conference, Roger Schmidt revealed that he was “committed” to celebrating the club’s victory at the Marquis de Pombal stadium in Lisbon.
“With great difficulty we got here […] It was a tough fight,” the coach said.
“I had hopes to bring this ship to a good port,” the German coach emphasized. Roger Schmidt also praised the players heavily: “Anyone who has seen them play knows that they have always tried to keep the fans interested.”
This Saturday, Benfica became the national football champion after beating Santa Clara in Luz 3-0.
