Cavendish wins the Rome sprint, the day the Giro honors its winner, Primoz Roglic

Euskaraz irakurri: Cavendishek Erromako sprinta irabazi du, Giroak Primoz Roglic bere txapelduna omendu duen egunean

The British cyclist Astana Mark Cavendish ha cattle this sunday the twenty-first and final stage of the Giro d’Italia 2023in Rome, to the sprint, while the Slovenian runner of the Jumbo-Visma Primoz Roglic has taken the victory in the general classification of the career. In a sprint that has been marked by a fall that has been registered in the last meters, Cavendish has added his seventeenth stage victory in the Giro d’Italia, and number 54 in the great tours; Roglic has taken his first Giro, in his fourth victory in a big one, after the Tour of Spain in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

In this way, the day that has closed three weeks of the race with hardly any respite has exalted two cyclists who are already in history: one, Cavendish, the winner of the last day, because he has achieved, at 38 years of age and in his last season as a professional, another highly prestigious victory to add to his impressive record; the other, Roglic, because he has been able to celebrate with his teammates, and even with his rivals, his final victory in the Giro, after he put on the pink jersey on Saturday, in the time trial from Monte Lussari.
