Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) admitted that he still feels “uncomfortable” with a shoulder injury sustained at the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix and does not know if he will “run in Mugello” at the Italian Grand Prix.
“The shoulder is not easy to recover. Together with the physiotherapist, we are doing our best to keep the shoulder in good condition,” said Miguel Oliveira in a statement released on Tuesday on the official website of the MotoGP World Championship on the Internet.
The Almada-born rider participated in an Aprilia-branded event where he had the opportunity to ride a race bike, but said he felt “uncomfortable” due to an injury sustained in a crash with Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha). ) at the Spanish Grand Prix.
“I did a few laps for the fans, but I felt uncomfortable. I don’t know if I will race in Mugello. I’ll wait for racing week to find out. I want to come back 100 percent and be competitive,” Miguel Oliveira stressed.
The Portuguese driver, who has already missed the French Grand Prix on May 14, admits he is losing pace with every absence.
“It will be difficult, because in every race you lose the rhythm. We must return safely and not think about injuries. But I have to feel 100 percent,” he stressed.
Miguel Oliveira believes he can “get good results”.
“I wish I could race more on Sundays because I know the results will show,” he concluded.
The Portuguese rider, who switched from KTM to the RNF Aprilia this year, had already been knocked down by Spaniard Marc Marquez (Honda) in the main race of the Portuguese Grand Prix, the opening race of the World Championship, on March 26, without completing the next race in Argentina due to injury.
Returning for the US Grand Prix, he once again pulled out of the race in the main race of the Spanish Grand Prix, round four of the calendar, which ruled out the French Grand Prix on 14 May due to an injury to his left shoulder.
The next stage of the championship, the sixth, will be the Italian GP, which will be held in Mugello on June 11.
