Sevilla won the Europa League this Wednesday for the seventh time, defeating Jose Mourinho’s Roma 4-1 on penalties in Budapest after a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra time.
Mancini and the Brazilian Ibáñez spent the maximum penalties on the Romans, while the Sevillians converted the four big penalties they had in the tie-break of the meeting, after the Argentinean Dybala gave you the advantage in favor of the Italian scheme, in the 35th minute, and that the Spaniards drew with Mancini’s own goal in the second half in the 55th minute.
Sevilla solidified their status as the most competitive victories by adding seven trophies in seven finals, marking Mourinho’s first loss in a European final since their 2004 Champions League triumphs against Porto and 2010 against Inter Milan. Europa League in 2003 – at the Porto club, and in 2017 – at Manchester United, and in the European Conference League – last year already at Roma.
