The government and municipalities of Lisbon and Loures have already signed contracts totaling €30.8 million for World Youth Day 2023, representing 41% of the costs envisaged by the three organizations.
By the end of May, the central administration and two municipalities had concluded 44 contracts for works, services and rent for this year’s World Youth Day, according to data compiled by Lusa on the Public Procurement Database portal. (WYD), which will be visited by Pope Francis from 2 to 6 August and is expected to gather around 1.5 million people in Lisbon and Loures.
The government plans to allocate 30 million euros (excluding VAT) for the WYD, while the municipalities of Lisbon and Loures plan to allocate 35 and 10 million euros, respectively, out of a total of 75 million euros between the three entities.
