Three people were killed, 10 injured in an airstrike in Kyiv

Ukrainian authorities said a nine-year-old girl, her mother and another woman were killed in a Russian rocket attack on Kyiv on Thursday night. Ten people were injured.

“Today is International Children’s Day. In the evening, Russia again killed a child in Kyiv,” Andriy Yermak, head of the administration of President Vladimir Zelensky, said.

“Since 2014, a terrorist country has been committing crimes against little Ukrainians. Since February 24, 2022, no one has any doubts – this is a real genocide, ”he adds.

Witnesses say the three victims died after the bomb shelter they fled to failed to open, Reuters reported.

According to the same source, the Ukrainian Air Force said that air defense systems shot down 10 ballistic missiles.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said three school buildings, a kindergarten, six residential buildings and a police station were damaged.

After 17 “unmanned aerial vehicles” and rocket attacks on the Ukrainian capital in May, Russian troops attacked the capital with rockets fired from the ground in the early morning.

Russia has stepped up missile and drone strikes on the Ukrainian capital as Kyiv prepares to launch a counteroffensive. Russia says Ukrainian shelling in the border areas has intensified in recent weeks as Kyiv prepares a counterattack.
