President Chegi said this Thursday that “either the prime minister is lying or Joao Galamba lied in the commission of inquiry”, asking for a new hearing of the infrastructure minister and insisting that António Costa respond to parliament.
“Lies and survival under government rule,” Andre Ventura told reporters after Prime Minister António Costa answered questions from PSD about Security Information Service (SIS) computer recovery activities. Frederico Pinheiro, former assistant to Infrastructure Minister Joao Galamba, on the night of April 26.
According to leader Chega, “when the prime minister says there was no direction or decision from his cabinet or himself, that includes secretary of state António Mendons Mendez.”
“Either the prime minister is lying, or Joao Galamba lied in the parliamentary commission of inquiry,” he concluded, noting that “under interrogation, Minister Joao Galamba said that the SIS call was voiced by Mendonce Mendez.”
According to Ventura, “there was articulation” and “now the prime minister comes in and says there was no permission.”
“The word is different, but saying that there was no interference. There cannot be two possible truths.
That is why the leader of Chegi, “given the new inconsistencies that have become apparent today in the response” António Costa, the party “will again insist, together with the chairman of the commission of inquiry, that, given these inconsistencies, one of two things: either call Galamba again, or call the prime minister minister to the podium in any form.
“We will insist that Joao Galamba be heard again in the commission of inquiry, especially on these issues, it can be a smaller grid, and we will insist that the prime minister give a written answer to the question,” he said .
Returning to Antonio Costa’s responses, Ventura refers to the chief executive “saying that he does not consider it normal to classify documents for easy access and to be present on non-accredited computers.”
“I don’t understand how the prime minister can’t draw political consequences from this. It is completely incomprehensible how Joao Galamba is in power, ”he criticized.
According to the deputy, “if a commission of inquiry is created” on the actions of the CCC, “full responsibility will lie with the prime minister and the government, which insists on not telling the truth.”
Among the answers to 15 PSD questions, the Prime Minister claims that he was aware that SIS was working with PJ to preserve the integrity of classified documents contained in a computer taken by Frederico Pinheiro from the Ministry of Infrastructure.
António Costa also states that SIS’ actions to seize the computer from the Ministry of Infrastructure did not require its authorization and were not the result of a suggestion by its Undersecretary of State, Mendonça Mendez.
