As a result of a reconnaissance flight of the Portuguese Air Force in the Mediterranean Sea, which discovered a suspicious vessel off the coast of Murcia, the Spanish authorities confiscated 1470 kg of hashish. The Portuguese military, currently based in Malaga and part of the European Border Agency’s (Frontex) “Operation Indalo”, located a boat used by drug traffickers from Morocco 55 kilometers from Cartagena and alerted the maritime forces, which proceeded to intercept. The number of detainees during this operation was not disclosed.
It was the second shipment of drugs intercepted by the Portuguese armed forces on the high seas in less than 24 hours after the seizure of 560 kg of hashish off the coast of the Algarve.
