Argentine international Di Maria said goodbye to Juventus on Tuesday in an Instagram post announcing his departure and saying he was leaving with a “bitter taste” after failing to help the club win titles.
“A difficult and difficult stage has come to an end. I’m leaving with peace of mind, giving everything to help the club continue to win titles, but I couldn’t. I leave with a bitter taste, but with the happiness of meeting many friends,” said the world champion from Argentina.
Angel Di Maria, 35, also thanked his Juve teammates, explaining that they made him feel at home from the first day he arrived at the Italian club in 2022 from Paris Saint-Germain.
This season, Di Maria met with Benfica in the group stage of the last Champions League draw, as well as with Sporting in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
The press speculated about the possibility of the international returning to Benfica, the club he represented between 2007/08 and 2009/10 and for which he won titles, moving to Spanish side Real Madrid at the end of those three seasons.
