The Court of Braga concluded that the pharmacy in Amares, in Braga, caused damage to the National Health Service (SNS) for more than 15 thousand euros, receiving reimbursement for medicines that it did not sell, but could not identify the author (authors) of the criminal plan .
In a decision dated June 5, which Lusa had access to today, this court acquitted the pharmacy’s technical director, who was charged by the Department of State with skilled fraud and computer forgery.
The Court found that between May 1, 2013 and December 31, 2018, someone from the pharmacy entered into the reimbursement computer program the identification of reimbursed medicines that were not sold.
During this period, the pharmacy entered into the program “fraudulently identifying 2,576 reimbursable drugs,” according to the court decision.
At the same time, he adds, the SNA wrongfully paid a contribution in the total amount of 15,549.19 euros, “which went to the pharmacy’s assets.”
The public ministry blamed the pharmacy’s technical director, but the court acquitted him for failing to prove who introduced the drugs into the program.
In court, the defendant “categorically” denied having committed the crime, denying that he was solely responsible for running the pharmacy and selling drugs.
