American businessman Avram Glaser said that Cristiano Ronaldo is a “great player”, refusing to comment on criticism that the Manchester United co-owner is not interested in the club.
“He’s a great player [da história] Manchester United, I appreciate everything he has done for the club and wish him the best of luck in the future,” the businessman told Sky News outside his home in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Glaser spoke about the Portuguese player for the first time since on Tuesday the English club and Cristiano Ronaldo agreed to terminate the contract by mutual agreement and after an interview with striker Piers Morgan in which he criticized the club, management and coach.
Asked by Sky News, the businessman reiterated that the board of directors is looking into alternatives for the club: “We’ve gone through the process and now we’re going to look into the alternatives and see where they take us,” he said at the time the sale of the club is allowed.
“The board will consider all strategic options, including new investment in the club, sale or other deals involving the company,” the club said on Tuesday, the same day Ronaldo’s departure was announced.
