UEFA condemn Serbian federation for playing behind closed doors

The UEFA Appeals Committee this Friday sanctioned the Serbian Football Federation for playing behind closed doors and a fine due to the discriminatory behavior of fans in the game against Montenegro, which qualified for Euro 2024, which took place on 27 March.

According to UEFA, following the behavior in the match played in Podgorica, the Appeals Committee ordered a disciplinary measure imposed in July last year by the Disciplinary Committee due to racist sentiment, the execution of which was suspended for a period of two years.

The Serbian Federation was also ordered to pay two fines, the total amount of which is 53,000 euros.

Meanwhile, after an appeal filed by Serbia, the UEFA Appeals Committee closed the process initiated by the Disciplinary Committee for discriminatory behavior in the match against Lithuania, also a qualifying match for Euro 2024, played on 24 March.

Serbia, which leads Group G of Euro 2024 qualification with six points from 2-0 wins over Montenegro and Lithuania, will play Bulgaria on 20 July in the third round of poule.
