Italy’s Davide Massa will referee the match between Portugal and Bosnia in the qualifying round of Euro 2024 on Saturday, as UEFA announced this Wednesday on its official website.
Massa, 41, has been with the national team since 2014 and will referee Portugal for the second time after the 4-0 friendly against Cyprus in Estoril in June 2017.
At the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, David Massa will be assisted by compatriots Filippo Meli and Stefano Alassio, while Matteo Marcenaro, also an Italian, will be the fourth judge.
The judges who will be on VAR have not yet been announced.
Portugal will host Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday at 7:45 pm and travel to Iceland to face the local team three days later at the Laugardalsvellur Stadium in Reykjavik at 7:45 pm (Lisbon time).
Early in qualifying, in two games that marked Martínez’s all-time debut at the helm, Portugal beat Liechtenstein 4-0 at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon and traveled to Luxembourg to score 6-0.
Team quinas lead Group J with six points, followed by Slovakia with four points and Bosnia and Iceland with three points. Luxembourg, with one point, and Liechtenstein, without points, are second to last and last respectively.
Only the top two in the group advance to the final stage of Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany.
