Cristiano Ronaldo continues to break records on and off the pitch by becoming the first person in the world to reach 500 million followers on Instagram.
The Portuguese footballer has increased the lead of his eternal rival Lionel Messi, who has “only” 376 million followers, making him the second most followed person.
Ronaldo’s controversial two-part interview with Piers Morgan does not appear to have affected the popularity of the Portuguese star, who continues to break records and gain followers on Instagram.
Piers Morgan took to Twitter to congratulate Ronaldo on yet another accomplishment: “Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first person to reach 500 million followers on Instagram, 124 million more than his closest rival in second place… Lionel Messi. Congratulations”.
In the ranking of the most followed personalities on Instagram, Kylie Jenner is in third place, followed by Selena Gomez and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Neymar and LeBron James are the most popular athletes after Ronaldo and Messi, although neither of them is in the top ten.
