A Florida woman is suing multinational Kraft Heinz for $5 million, alleging her famous macaroni and cheese takes longer to cook than it says on the packaging.
Thus, Amanda Ramirez considers herself the victim of misleading information, which justifies a lawsuit in federal court in Florida, in which she opposes a multinational giant who claims that the time spent by her to prepare Velveeta brand pasta exceeds 3.5 minutes in instructions for use, according to WPLG Local 10 channel.
“We are aware of this unreasonable act and will vigorously defend against your allegations,” a spokesman for Kraft Heinz Foods told CNN on Monday.
Lawyers for the plaintiff argue that the company is selling the product at a “substantially high price” while using “misleading” “ready in three and a half minutes” information in the instructions for use.
Ramirez says the package label should account for the extra preparation needed before and after the product is microwaved for 3.5 minutes.
This includes, depending on the action, opening the package, the cheese sauce sachet, adding water or milk, and stirring before and after cooking to thicken the pasta with the cheese.
