Portugal’s Miguel Oliveira (April) hopes to “qualify as far ahead as possible” despite pain intensifying this Friday following a crash during the second free practice session of the German MotoGP Grand Prix.
The Portuguese rider, who completed the first day of free practice of the seventh round of the World Motorcycle Speed Championship, fell during the afternoon session and again felt severe pain in his left shoulder, which he suffered a fracture on April 30. forced him to be observed at a medical center on the Sachsenring track to rule out a possible worsening of the injury.
“In general, I was pleased with today. I had a small accident when I lost the front end. [da mota] at turn 10. Miguel Oliveira ended the day with a 15th record, which will put him in the first qualifying round on Saturday on a track with 10 turns to the left, precisely on the injured side.
“I am quite happy with today. It’s a tough track for the left shoulder, but nevertheless, I managed to be competitive, which is good,” said the pilot, a native of Almada.
The Portuguese knows that he now has to go through Q1 before reaching the decisive stage of qualifying, Q2, which will bring together the 10 fastest in free practice and the top two in Q1.
“We will have to play our best card to try and qualify as far as possible,” concluded the Portuguese rider.
The German Grand Prix is the seventh race of the season.
Italy’s Francesco Bagna (Ducati), who finished fourth this Friday, is closing in on the leader of the classification with 131 points, 21 points more than Bessecchi, while Oliveira is in 17th place with 21 points.
