An Indian immigrant who prosecutors believe is the right hand of Rubén Oliveira, the cocaine dealer known as “Xuxa”, was released today under an order signed by investigating judge Carlos Alexandre.
Gurvinder Singh was under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. The release is based on the observance of the maximum period prescribed by law for this measure of coercion and for pre-trial detention.
The prosecution’s indictment indicates that an Indian trader entered into an agreement with Xuxa to import papaya from Brazil. As a result, the judicial police intercepted 300 kg of cocaine in the middle of a shipment of this tropical fruit and detained two men after this operation.
José Cabral, another of the 21 accused in this case, who was in preventive detention in a Lisbon prison, was also released.
In the case of Syuksa, such a situation could have arisen only on April 24, 2024, when one and a half years have passed since the application of a preventive measure in the form of a coercive preventive measure against him. However, the trial is expected to start by then.
It should be remembered, moreover, that the investigation phase of the process is already underway. Carlos Alexandre analyzes queries submitted by Xuxa and Gurvinder Singh, among others. In the indictment of the Central Directorate of Investigation and Criminal Affairs (DCIAP) of the prosecutor’s office, the Xuxa-run network is named as the Portuguese branch of the group of the former Brazilian Major Sergio Carvalho, who was deported yesterday from Hungary to Belgium.
