The athletic club has confirmed that it has reached an agreement with Jon Morcillo for the extension for one season of the Biscayan player’s contract that will now conclude, with the new signature, on June 30, 2024.
The extreme, which accumulates 48 matches in the first team and who is entering his third season in the top flight, has participated in the final stretch of the last five LaLiga Santander games.
His best campaign was that of his debut, 2020-21, in which he played 36 games, including the two in the Spanish Super Cup that crowned champions for the men then led by Marcelino García Toral. In that same year, he marked Osasuna and Valladolid, where he was precisely on loan last season and achieved promotion from LaLiga SmartBank.
“It’s a pride to continue another year in the club that I’ve always wanted to be and it has given me everything. The goal is to repay the trust they have placed in me with performance on the pitch,” said the Zornotzarra player.
“In the line drawn by the Board of Directors, Morcillo has accepted the economic approach proposed by Athletic Club based on a salary structure with a variable component, which will be linked to the fulfillment of certain objectives”, explained Athletic Club
