Portuguese driver António Felix da Costa (Porsche) finished third in the Portland E-Prix (USA) on Saturday, the 12th round of the Formula E Electric Car World Cup.
The Portuguese rider, who started in seventh position, was still in the lead for most of the race, but eventually dropped to third in the finals, finishing 1.140 seconds behind winner New Zealander Nick Cassidy (Envision) with Britain’s Jake. Dennis (Andretti) is in second position, 0.294 seconds behind the winner.
Thus, Felix da Costa added 15 points to the championship.
“[Foi] good strong day for me. I was strong throughout the race and in the fight for the victory. So in this respect [estou] very happy with how we performed here in Portland,” said the Cascais-born Portuguese rider.
As for the result, Félix da Costa believed that “a podium is always a podium”. It tasted bittersweet, however, as he was in the lead “for most of the race”.
“I feel like we could win, but in Formula E it happens, the races are decided at the end, and today it was not for me. In any case, I am happy and we are still strong in the remaining four races. “concluded the Portuguese driver.
With these results, Félix da Costa was sixth with 93 points and Jake Dennis became the new leader with 154 points, one more than Nick Cassidy.
The next race will be a double stage, in Rome (Italy), on 14 and 16 July.
