On Wednesday afternoon, a one-year-old boy drowned in an inflatable swimming pool while being cared for by a nanny in Silveiros, Barcelos. The alarm was received by law enforcement agencies at about five o’clock in the afternoon. The firefighters who arrived at the scene were unable to do anything to save the child. The judicial police of Braga are investigating the case.
The boy’s parents, Brazilian citizens, have been in Portugal since February last year. “They are shocked by the situation. The couple are very hardworking, so Pedro was in the nanny, and the other eldest son, four years old, in the garden. One of the nannies called his mother at five o’clock in the afternoon and said that something had happened to him. Only when he arrived did he learn that the boy had died. It was a shock. I don’t know what happened, but the nanny never had any problems with any child, — said a family friend Morning Post.
There were three other children in the care of the welfare nanny. This month the boy turned one year old.
