Goalkeeper Beto Pimparel, who has played 16 times for the Portugal national football team, today, at the age of 41, put an end to his career after 545 games played at a professional level, saying goodbye via social networks.
“The first word that comes from me is thank you! And this is thanks to football, which raised me to a state of full realization for 33 years. I have dedicated myself with all my passion, dedication to this dream of mine, and the day has come when I end my professional football career,” Beto wrote on Instagram.
Born in Loures, Beto started training at Ponte Freelash, later moving to Sporting CP, playing in Portugal for Sporting B, Casa Pia, Leixos, Desportivo de Chavez, Marco, Farense, FC Porto and Sporting de Braga.
In Spain he represented Sevilla, in Turkey Göztepe, in Romania Cluj and in Finland Helsinki where he played in 2022 and which was his last club.
“It was a wonderful journey, full of achievements, but most importantly, the human part that I got to know and that accompanied me throughout this journey,” he emphasized, leaving thanks to his teammates, managers and other employees of “all teams” . where he passed, as well as the Portuguese selection.
Beto leaves with 14 titles to his credit, five of which are in international competitions: the UEFA Nations League (2018/19), four Europa Leagues (one with Porto and three with Sevilla), the Portuguese League (FC Porto), two Portuguese Cups (FC Porto), Portuguese Supercup (FC Porto), League Cup (Sporting de Braga), II League (Leixões) and Romanian League (Cluj).
