Footballer Kylian Mbappé has again refused to participate in the French Football Federation sponsored advertising campaign, insisting on changing the contracts for the rights to the image of the players.
Echoing the March gesture, the Paris Saint-Germain forward ensures that his refusal is not related to the amount of money he earns from sponsorships, as he donates it to charitable associations, but that he does not want to be associated with what certain brands represent. .
Among them, he doesn’t want to be associated with fast food companies that are unhealthy or bets that could undermine the integrity of the sport.
“Mbappe and his representatives are very sorry that we were unable to reach an agreement,” the player said in a statement.
The athlete has long been asking to reformulate the agreement common to all colleagues, signed in 2017, when he made his debut in the selection, and which provides for the payment of 25 thousand euros per game, and the federation can sell its image to sponsors.
“This decision obviously does not call into question his full commitment and determination to contribute to the collective success of the national team in the upcoming important sporting events,” its representatives assure.
In response, the federation indicates that there will be no changes to the current model until the World Cup in Qatar this year.
In terms of image rights, Mbappe is linked to a sports equipment company, a watch company, and a video game development company.
