Portugal climbed 16 podiums and achieved the best result at the European Games

The Portuguese mission at the European Games Krakow 2023 won the 16th medal this Sunday in the third edition of the event, overtaking 15th place in Minsk 2019 and leaving behind 10th place in Baku 2015.

In the last competition with national participation, Joao Paulo Azevedo, Armelim Rodríguez and José Bruno Faria won bronze in the Olympic Team Hunting Shooting event in Wroclaw, placing 16th on the Portuguese podium in Poland.

This is the most successful European Games in Portugal’s history, with three golds, seven silvers and six bronzes after a two-week journey that ended with the “last leg”.

On Saturday, the two bronze medals of the women’s table tennis team and the women’s beach soccer team equal 15 in Minsk 2019, surpassed this Sunday.

On June 27, Marcos Freitas managed to take second place in the men’s singles table tennis tournament and ended up close to a new team medal, finishing fourth on the same day that Miguel Frazao surprised with silver in the sword tournament. in fencing.

After two podiums for the women’s teams on Saturday, a bronze medal this Sunday in Wroclaw, almost 300 kilometers from Krakow, allowed Portugal to surpass the results of Minsk 2019, the most successful Portuguese mission so far.

There were three golds, six silvers and six bronzes, which is one less silver, so this is the most valuable edition for Portugal in terms of the number of medals.

Earlier, in Baku-2015, there were three golds, four silvers and three bronzes in the debut of this competition.

This Sunday, in Krakow and in the Polish region of Lesser Poland, the third European Games will end, with 30 sports and 48 participating countries, including Portugal, whose delegation has more than two hundred athletes.
