Senegalese Keita Balde has been suspended until December for an anti-doping violation.

Senegalese national team player Keita Balde has been suspended until December 5 for “violating the procedure during anti-doping control”, which should exclude the striker from the 2022 World Cup, Spartak Moscow announced on Monday.

Keita Balde, 27, has been suspended by the Italian anti-doping authority for a violation he committed while representing Cagliari in the 2021/22 season, Spartak Moscow, the player’s current club, said in a statement.

The coat of arms of the Russian capital did not specify what kind of anti-doping control procedure Keita Balde violated, noting only that no prohibited substances were found in the samples taken from the forward.

Senegal, which Keita Balde has represented in 40 games with six goals, will make their 2022 World Cup Group A debut on 21 November against the Netherlands, facing hosts Qatar in 25 matches and Ecuador in 29 matches the same month.
