Workers performing public functions in the services located in Lisbon will have a vacation on August 3 and 4 on the occasion of World Youth Day (WYD), according to a message signed by the Prime Minister.
The dispatch, signed by António Costa and accessed by Lusa’s agency, specifies that the punctual admission applies to “employees who perform public functions in direct public administration services, central or decentralized, and in public institutions.” located in the municipality of Lisbon”.
As justification for this executive action, the diploma notes that the WYD, which will take place from 1 to 6 August 2023, “will be the largest event held in Portugal, with an expected anomalous high flow of people.”
“Taking into account also the inherent security contingencies and their undeniable impact on the mobility of citizens and traffic, and also taking into account the need to mitigate the impact of this influx on daily life and mobility, especially in the municipality of Lisbon, tolerance is granted 3 and August 4, 2023” (the first Thursday and Friday of the next month), it says.
In the opinion of the government, in terms of tolerance, “with the exception of the services and bodies which, for reasons of public interest, must continue to function during this period within the time limits determined by the competent member of the government.”
“Without prejudice to the continuity and quality of the services provided, the senior managers of the services and bodies mentioned in the previous issue should facilitate an equivalent waiver of the obligation to attend the relevant employees on a date to be fixed. in the prescribed manner,” the order says.
