Pogacar wins by 8 seconds against Vingegor at the 9th stage of the Tour de France

In a duel between Tadej Pogacar (UAE) and Jonas Vingegor (Jumbo), the Slovenian cyclist beat the Dane by eight seconds this Sunday in the ninth stage of the Tour de France. The race, which ended at the top of the Puy de Dome, was won by the Canadian Michael Woods (Israel), who overtook the American Matteo Jorgenson (Movistar) 500 meters from the finish line.

At the 132.4 km stage, 14 cyclists started, which amounted to almost the first kilometer. The group had a 16:16 lead at the foot of the Puy de Dome and split on the climb, with 36-year-old Woods winning the mythical French Hill. In the fight between Pogacar and Wingegor, the former won time against the latter for the second time in a row. Wingegaard is still in the lead, but now he’s only 17 feet ahead of his opponent. With more than eight seconds won on the road, Pogacar lifted morale over the defending Tour champion. As for the Portuguese cyclists who participated in the race, Rubén Guerreiro (Movistar) is in 33rd place, Nelson Oliveira (Movistar) is in 66th and Rui Costa is in 73rd.

This Monday is the first day of rest in the race.
