António Costa warned that the stadium, inaugurated on 10 June 1944 and whose annual climax is the hosting of the Portuguese Cup final, “is a remarkable piece of architecture”, but should not be limited to an “archaeological site”. , during a ceremony held on the presidential podium.
“There have been several investments in the entire Jamor sports complex over the decades (…), but there was equipment, oddly enough, what seems to be the jewel in the crown of this complex, which, for various reasons, was not accompanied by revitalization and modernization,” – he noted.
