He usually travels by helicopter and has a Bugatti Centodiec, the brand’s most exclusive model, worth eight million euros. Armando Pereira, born into a poor family, became the richest man in the country.
The co-founder of Altice, who emigrated to France at the age of 14 with one piece of clothing on his back, is known for “ruthlessness in the business world.” In accordance with SunArmando Pereira worked as a cleaner and trained as a plumber in the 1960s while living on the outskirts of Paris.
Later, he began laying telephone cables in trenches, and in 1985 he founded the telecommunications company Sogetrel, becoming a supplier to France Telecom, France’s largest telecommunications operator.
Years later, in partnership with Patrick Drai, a Portuguese-born French-Israeli billionaire, he founded Altice, which has become one of the largest telecommunications companies.
Armando Pereira, who was arrested this Thursday on suspicion of various crimes related to corruption, tax fraud, money laundering and forgery, has a mansion in Vieira do Minho, in the Braga district, where he usually flies by helicopter. The house covers an area of 15 hectares, has a golf course, a garage that houses a fleet of one million luxury cars, and a “helipad” where a businessman parks his helicopter.
The Altice co-founder is also known for his passion for rally cars and is one of only three Portuguese to own a Bugatti Centodiec limited to 10 units. The other two belong to Hernani Vas Antunes, known as Altis’ right-hand man, who is also involved in the alleged crimes of Armando Pereira and Cristiano Ronaldo. Armando Pereira’s Bugatti Centodiec is more expensive, as it has a special paint job worth 500,000 euros.
