An Australian sailor and his dog have been rescued after drifting in the Pacific for three months, news.com.au reports.
Tim Shaddock, a native of Sydney, and his dog Bella saw the boat they were traveling on damaged in a storm in April as they sailed from Mexico towards French Polynesia.
As a result of the accident, they were lost at sea, inside the vessel, where there were only “fishing tackle” and “survival materials”, according to Tim’s statements to the 9News channel.
The man and Bella survived by drinking rain water and eating raw fish.
Three months later they were rescued by a tuna fishing boat after they were spotted by a helicopter. To this TV channel, Tim Sheddock’s mother expressed her relief at the rescue of her son.
The Australian will be flown back to Mexico. Doctors say the man was not seriously injured and is “perfectly normal.”
