The education minister is making sure that 7,983 teachers no longer have unreliable contracts. There were over 10,000 vacancies.

Education Minister Joao Costa assured Tuesday that 7,983 teachers will no longer have unreliable contracts in 2023.

Presenting data from the final lists released on Tuesday, the minister said that about 2,400 teachers will be bound by the brake rate and about 5,600 by the dynamic link.

“I want to note that this is the biggest connection in the last 18 years. We tied more than twice as many of the best years,” he stressed.

Compared to appointments between 2016 and 2022, more than 50% of teachers have been hired this year in the last seven years.

Faced with the hypothesis that these numbers are below expectations, João Costa stresses that the government “has made provisions for mandatory participation of 10,500 teachers” but “some have chosen not to apply”.
